THIRD BASE

Competence: Performance Base -- Winning Over Obstacles

This is the final lesson of a four-part series.

Lesson #1 -- HOME PLATE: CONVERSION – Purpose and Power Over Sin.

In this lesson we looked at “what happens at conversion”.  This is the initial step in our relationship with Christ and fulfilling His purposes in His church.

Lesson #2 -- First Base: CHARACTER – Personal Base: Winning Within.

In this lesson we determined that following conversion God’s top priority is to build character in His people.  Charisma without character leads to chaos.  God’s established character in our lives will keep us from negating our testimony.

Lesson #3 – Second Base: COMMUNITY -- People Base: Winning With Others

This lesson was all about relationships.  Everything revolves around relationships.

It is the will of God that you PRODUCE in life!

In this final lesson we will build upon the previous three classes and give you divine revelation from the Word of God that it is His will that you be an OVERCOMER in life.

Our Faith Declaration:

“I am sword-drawn, Word-ready,
purpose-filled.  I will not be denied, and, in Jesus’ name,
I will everything; not somehow,
but triumphantly!”

YOU HAVE GOT TO HAVE FAITH IN GOD.

YOU HAVE GOT TO HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF.

Philippians 4:13 – “I can do everything through him who gives me strength” (NIV).

Romans 8:37
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (KJV).

I John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and (YE) have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (KJV).

I John 5:4
‘For whatsoever (WHOSOEVER) is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (KJV).

IT IS THE WILL OF GOD THAT YOU PROSPER!

What was in the Old Testament is GOOD, but because of Jesus what we have in the New Testament is BETTER.  The Old Testament does not have to reiterate when the New Testament “magnifies” and “multiplies” the OT promises.

Hebrews 8:6, NIV
“But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises.”

Joshua 1:7, KJV
Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

Psalms 1:1-3
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. (v.2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  (v.3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

Genesis 39:2, “And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian” (KJV).

Genesis 39:2, “And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian” (KJV).

Genesis 39:23, “The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper” (KJV).

2 Chronicles 26:5, “And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper” (KJV).

Psalms 118:25, “Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity” (KJV).

WINNING OVER OBSTACLES & ADVERSITY

Everything starts with desire.  Desire is the highest qualification.  Desire is greater than your giftings.  You have to WANT to BE somebody and DO something for God.

You’ve got to DESIRE the WILL OF GOD for your life greater than your adversary desires to keep you from the will of God.

Isaiah 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.  (KJV)

A VICTORY MEANS THERE MAY BE MORE OPPOSITION.

KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND BE TENACIOUS.

Ezra 3:13
“So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off” (KJV).

Ezra 4:1-2
“Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel; (v.2) Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither” (KJV).

2 Corinthians 4:7-11, NIV
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. (v.8) We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; (v.9) persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (v.10) We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. (v.11) For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.
