PASTOR'S
CLASS SESSION
2 First
Base Our vision
statement: What you are
on the inside will, sooner or later, be demonstrated. In this lesson
we are going to discuss CHARACTER. Character
defined: “One of the attributes or features that make up and distinguish and
individual.” Restoration
Ministries (RM) will maintain an extremely high level of expectancy when it
comes to the level of CHARACTER demonstrated by its members.
When people see you acting/re-acting they will think that is how their
leadership acts/re-acts. People
will judge you by your character. People
may judge Jesus by your character. People
may judge the leadership of RM by your character. Never, never, never, never forget this:
Case study
Number 1 in North Carolina. Case study Number 2 in South Carolina. Too often, we
look at people’s giftings and esteem their gift at the sake of their
character. Charisma
(giftings) without character is chaos. Proverbs
18:16, KJV --
“A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great
men.” Your gift will
gain you audience before men, but your character will keep you there. This ministry will NEVER recognize people by what they say, but by what they do. You might could say that I am a skeptic when it comes to meeting people. Unless, the Holy Spirit expressly bears witness with what someone says to me when I first meet them I never take them at face value. They have to prove themselves to me. In turn, I submit myself to prove WHO I am to them. SOME
CHARACTERISTICS GOD WANTS (Please, this
is nowhere close to an exhaustive list of the things God wants to see in His
children, but these are some that are dear to me.
So, as pastor I want to list them) 1.
Be An EXCELLENCE-IST No person can
be a PERFECTIONIST. That means
everything a person does is perfect. Yet,
EVERYONE can be an EXCELLENCE-IST. Perfection
means without flaw or failure. Excellence
means doing the best with what you have to work with. Excellence
means fulfilling something given to you to do with everything that is in you. See Exodus
chapters 39 & 40 and count how many times you see a phrase similar to “as
the Lord said.” Colossians 3:17 (NIV), “
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of
the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV), “
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord,
not for men, (v.24) since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the
Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” 2.
Be BLAMELESS Philippians 2:14-15 (NIV), “ Do everything without complaining or arguing, (v.15) so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe” 3.
Be REPENTANT and HUMBLE Isaiah 57:15 (NIV), “
For this is what the high and lofty One says-- he who lives forever,
whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who
is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive
the heart of the contrite.” Isaiah 66:1-2 (NIV) “ This is what the LORD says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be? (v.2) Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?" declares the LORD. ‘This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word….’” 4.
Be SELF-CONFIDENT And Have A High SELF-ESTEEM Proverbs 28:1 (NIV), “
The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold
as a lion.” Philippians 4:13 (KJV), “I can do
all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV), “ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” |
